The Aten USB to Serial Driver is not very common and has a much smaller market than the other players in the USB to Serial connectors. Gigaware USB to Serial and Prolific USB to Serial are the biggest of the connectors mainly because Radio-shack used to stock many of their products.
Aten USB to Serial Driver
If you are stuck while installing the driver you can search other posts such as the FT232R USB driver page which gives a good explanation as to what goes wrong most times and how to install the driver if everything else fails. Below are 2 sets of drivers. The first are the latest drivers while there are legacy drivers for older Windows 98 computers.
This hardware uses the Prolific hardware inside so you can also search this website for more updated drivers. Prolific has excluded older chipsets in their new drivers. The Aten driver is much older for the older chipsets. Download the driver below and then extract the content. You will note that the driver is an older driver for the old machines. If you wish to install the driver on Windows 10 then you can try and install this in compatibility mode.
Extract the file and then right-click on the EXE file inside. On the new menu you will then click on the “Troubleshoot Compatibility” option on the menu. From there Windows 10 will then attempt to install the driver in an emulation mode and install the driver that way. Ensure that your hardware from Aten is connected. From there you will need to ensure that you restart your computer and see if your hardware is accessible. See also other hardware on here. If this does not work then try a different driver from Prolific which you can see listed above. Use the search on the sidebar.
